Who Am I?

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, but a resident of Cary, North Carolina since 1984. I consider North Carolina as my home for life.

My career in the emerging technologies industry began at age 12, when I was a System Operator (SysOp) for three Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) in the Raleigh, NC area.

I attended Cary Senior High School from 1996-2000, and spent the majority of my time immersed in the Naval Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Program (NJROTC), serving on such teams as the Marksmanship Team, Color Guard, Honor Guard, Drill Team, Academic Team and Battalion Staff. During that time, I was also enrolled in C++ Programming, Web Development courses and even attained my Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) credentials.

I majored in Computer Science at NC Central University and NC State University, but opted to pursue career opportunities in 2002. I did however, continue my technical training — adding A+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Security+ certifications to my portfolio.

In 2005, my passion and commitment to the online community fueled the energy needed to maintain a side project called theNetworkCafe, which was an online community focused on promoting Raleigh’s entertainment industry, and boasted over 3,500 local members. It was acquired in 2008.

I served as the Technology Coordinator for Keller Williams for several years before accepting a position with Cooper Bussmann as a Computer Aided Design Engineer in 2006 — after attaining certifications in AutoCAD, SolidWorks 3D and Pro/Engineer Wildfire.

While I spent much of my life immersed in various aspects of engineering, my true passion in life continued to revolve around digital communications, marketing and online communities.

In 2007, I accepted a position at the iContact Corporation as the Community Manager for their community of over 600,000 publishers worldwide. Over the next four years, my passion fueled my success as I was promoted year after year, and I am presently the Marketing Communications Manager for iContact, an industry leading email marketing provider.

I am a regular speaker for local and national organizations and universities, including the Triangle Interactive Marketing Association (TIMA), the American Marketing Association (AMA), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), the Triangle Social Media Club, PR Web, the Triangle Association of Black Journalists (TABJ) and the Online Politics Conference in Washington, DC.

I am an experienced digital marketing professional with focused expertise in Email Marketing Best Practices, Social Media Strategies, Engagement Marketing, Blog & Content Management, Web Media Productions, Brand Reputation Management, Corporate Communications and Corporate Culture Initiatives.

As an actively engaged industry professional, I am honored to serve as the President for the Triangle Interactive Marketing Association (TIMA), the Marketing Chair for the Triangle Association of Black Journalists, the President for the RTP Chapter of the National Association of Asian American Professionals, and I proudly assist various local nonprofit organizations with their communications, digital marketing, social media and engagement marketing efforts.
